The Stamford Bd of Realtors Quarterly Meeting at the Italian Center on October 2, 2008 was well attended by 150 Realtors. Stamford - The 21st Century, was the topic addressed by 3 well respected guest speakers:
Speaker Richard W. Redniss, President of Redniss & Mead, Speaker Robert N. Rich, Chairman of the F.D. Rich Co. and Speaker Kip Bergstrom, Executive Director of the Urban Redevelopment Commission of the City of Stamford were all well received by the group.

The informative meeting and discussions revolved around Stamford's evolution to its current
status as "The Financial Services City" today. Before and after World War II Stamford was then known as the "Lock City" of the industrial era to the "The City of Research." Then evolving in the 1970's into one of the nation's top locations for Fortune 500 headquarters. In the 1990's, Stamford began to attract major investment banks and hedge funds, thus earning its name as "The Financial Services City." Stamford CT is touted as a magnet for talent attracting
financial institutions UBS, RBS and other impressive satellite companies and corporations.

Stamford Realtors were told that there are still an additional 2800 units of housing that have been approved downtown for future development. High speed Inter-City Rail and High Speed Inter City Light Rail are also on the planning boards. The downtown transportation center would then become the new center of downtown. If and when the Harbor Point Development is completed, Stamford would once again become a waterfront city.
